1972 Ducati RT 450 ~ For Sale
Engine rebuilt
by Dave Chrone 1,800 miles ago. Stock 29 mm DellOrto carburetor
replaced with 34 mm Mikuni. Frame powder coated and painted in
correct silver.
Original tank,
new fenders and side panels, painted in correct yellow.
To make the
bike street-able, and to improve handling I replaced the 21”
front wheel /158 mm front brake with a 19” rim and 180 mm Ducati
drum brake, and replaced the original 50 tooth rear sprocket
with a 38 tooth sprocket as found on the 450 desmo street bikes.
The stock
handlebars were replaced with shorter ones of a Benelli SEI. A
chain guard, and an effective SuperTrapp muffler were added.
The Koni shocks
were professionally rebuilt.
Originally I
had installed PowerDynamo electronic ignition, but, although
very reliable, I removed it because of the dangerous kickback
experienced when kick starting. Because of that problem
PowerDynamo later recommended to not use this kit for the 450.
To replace it a 12V Ducati rotor and stator have been installed,
and a Sachse ignition kit was obtained (ZDG 3.10). The Sachse
kit, appropriate coil, rectifier and a small lithium battery
(Alien Motion AM4-XP) still need to be installed and wired.
This bike
completed the California Melee twice without any problems.
The stock parts
(21” front wheel, 29 MM Dell'Orto, and handlebar) can be
included in the sale.
Selling because
kick starting a bike is not feasible any more.
Asking $10,000
as is. The bike has a clear California title and is located in
Fresno, CA.
