This years
Festival of Italian Motorcycles was held the week before the Moto GP
at Phillip Island, Australia, at the same venue as last years. Again
it was a great turn out of Italian bikes with around 200 turning up
for the day and again with a great variety of eras and marques being
represented.
The good thing about this years festival was the appearance of a number "new" attendees. There were quite a few bikes I had never come across before. The most notable was the customized Ducati 500 GT and the NCR replica. Both are pretty amazing looking bikes. There were also some bikes making their first appearance at the Festival. The 1956 Bennelli. This bike is regularly raced at classic meets. There was also the seldom seen Ducati Laguna Seca (with a bit of luck I'll get some more photos of this bike and the ten or so others in the owners garage in the near future) along with an original MV Agusta mini bike. Many of the bikes at this years festival can be seen in the gallery for the 2002 Festival. One good thing is that I finally have a full photo of the F3 Ducati (last year I took lots of photos of the bike but forgot to get one of the whole bike). Phil Aynsley also has some photos of this bike on his website www.philaphoto.com.au. Again much thanks must go to the members of the various Italian motorcycle clubs who organized the event along with the support of people and organizations in the motorcycle industry. |
