DUCATI HYPERMOTARD

The Ducati Hypermotard attacks urban canyons and carves up mountain passes with total abandon. High performance starts with attitude. Stripped down to its essentials, the Hypermotard is an extreme performance, totally over-the-top motorcycle. Its purpose is single minded – to thrill. Incredibly slim and exceptionally light, with a riding position to dominate, the Hypermotard is ready to rock every road. Race styling makes the blood boil, but the Hypermotard offers what no other bike in its class can: speeds exceeding 220 KPH on the track, fuel injection, and big bore acceleration with more than 100 horsepower on only 175Kg of dry weight – the most extreme, mountain-conquering, urban-assaulting machine ever - from Ducati.

On the Road
Bring on the curves, the bumps, and the unexpected.
A rigidly triangulated Trellis frame and track-tested chassis geometry is matched with state-of-the-art suspension. Start off with road-holding 50mm Marzocchi R.A.C. forks, gripped by a triple screw lower fork crown, then add an Ohlins remote reservoir shock that mounts to a stout, single-sided swing arm. Ultra light forged and machined Marchesini racing wheels are paired with a single radial mounted Brembo four piston, four pad calliper gripping a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear.

Making power
1000ccs of Desmo power
The 1000 Dual Spark engine pumps out torque and horsepower that is smooth and linear, because the roads that the Hypermotard seeks are neither smooth nor linear. A Slipper type racing clutch makes aggressive downshifting and heavy braking more exciting by damping the abrupt selection of lower gears while entering a turn. Magnesium engine covers subtract more weight for a feathery feel and athletic manoeuvres.

Rider controls
A ride on the Hypermotard is road domination.
The wide tapered section handlebars transfer control of the tarmac to the rider. Full-length seat design lets the rider move fore and aft, up-front entering the turns, back for maximum traction on exit.
The Hypermotard. Two wheels, one purpose.
The most thrilling ride ever.

MONSTER

THE ORIGINAL "NAKED" MOTORCYCLE
The Monster is the original, unique “naked” motorcycle. Launched to rave reviews in the 1990s, it has become a cult classic. Today, more than ever, it is a modern motorcycling legend, the bike of choice of top designers, Hollywood stars and Formula One racing drivers.

The Monster is a “street fighter” that offers outstanding sport bike performance together with a style that has often been imitated but never equalled. In addition, the Ducati Performance Accessories catalogue, which is included with each bike, is bursting with ideas to customise your bike and improve its performance. You can get gorgeous, airbrushed fuel tanks, accessories machined from solid aluminium, carbon fibre, high performance exhaust systems and hundreds of special parts to make each and every Monster even more unique.

The Monster family offers a choice of air or liquid-cooled, two and four-valve Desmo engines. The Superbike derived trellis frame, powerful engines with fuel injection, plus braking and suspension systems that are all derived from our experience in the racing world.

For 2006 the Monster family includes the 620 and 620 Dark, joined by the aggressive, high performance SR models: S2R, S2R Dark, S4R and the new S2R 1000 and S4Rs Testastretta.

MONSTER 620 DARK

POWER AND FUN
With its matte black finish, the strikingly clean and essential lines of the Monster 620 are accentuated in the Dark version. The Monster 620 Dark is also the value choice of the family. The 620 is the perfect introduction to the Monster family: its classic, minimalist style expresses the philosophy that has won over a generation of riders.

The air-cooled, two-valve 618 cc engine, with an advanced fuel injection system derived from our race bikes is extremely reliable and its smooth power delivery makes for easy spirited riding from city streets to mountain passes.

The APTC clutch, developed exclusively for Ducati, makes the 620 even friendlier, safer and more comfortable. This unique system provides clutch lever pull that is amazingly light, while it also assists in reducing abrupt downshifts that can produce destabilising rear wheel chatter. The clutch, as well as the lowered seat, make this an ideal bike for women too. The six-speed transmission ensures spirited acceleration and an immediate response at all times.

And good news for European riders under 21 and those who have had a motorcycle license for less than two years: a 25 kw power limited version that complies with the European Commission standards allows new riders the chance to experience Monster style and performance.

MONSTER 620

WELCOME TO THE MONSTER FAMILY
The 620 is the perfect introduction to the Monster family: its classic, minimalist style expresses the philosophy that has won over a generation of riders. The Monster 620 can satisfy the needs of a wide range of motorcyclists, thanks to features that make it easy to ride and own, like a low seat height, a comfortable riding position and low maintenance costs.

MONSTER S2R DARK

ATTENTION GETTER
The essential look of the Dark version S2R comes from its understated classic matte black finish and traditional steel handlebars. Those who want to enter the Monster universe with a bigger bang, in terms of both styling and performance, need look no further than the S2R.

As the years have gone by and the Monster phenomenon grows, the family has also evolved and extended to include a “street fighter” philosophy. The more aggressive Monster SR bikes were born, with a meaner, more modern look, a more sports-style chassis and a higher level of performance.

Its air-cooled 803 cc L-twin engine strikes a perfect balance between peak power and torque. It delivers sports-level performance, yet is balanced, reliable and easy to tame, thanks in part to the racing-derived electronic fuel injection system.

This entry-level, high performance Monster also features the exclusive APTC system, which ensures maximum safety on the hardest rides as a result of the slipper-clutch action when down-changing. The system also makes city riding much more comfortable because of the extremely light clutch lever action.

MONSTER S2R 1000

PERSONALITY AND PERFORMANCE
The new Monster S2R 1000 is a blend of sport and character: the power of the dual spark engine combines with the trellis frame to pack a punch into every corner. The S2R 1000 is the ideal choice for anyone who wants the “mean” look of the SR series with more power and the beauty and simplicity advantages of an air-cooled engine.

Our most powerful air-cooled Monster is driven by the 992 cc Dual Spark engine, which delivers 95 hp and 9.6 kgm (69.4 lb-ft) of torque and is highly efficient and ultra-reliable.

The 1000 DS engine was developed with specific objectives in mind: increased power, overall simplification, reduced working temperature, improved reliability and less weight. Starting with the heads, there are two spark plugs per cylinder and camshafts that rotate on oil pressurized plain bearings and not ball bearings - which reduces the number of moving parts and aids heat dissipation. The Dual Spark solution gives more complete combustion and boosts power, especially at low and medium rpm. A reduction of the angle between intake and exhaust valves has improved the shape and reduced the volume of the combustion chamber, resulting in more efficient combustion, allowing greater compression and more power.

The Showa forks and Sachs rear shock, ensure confident road-holding and are adjustable for pre-load and rebound, allowing you to adjust your bike to suit your personal riding style and load conditions. The high performance Brembo brake system provides the finishing touch to the standard equipment.

The Monster S2R 1000 is environmentally responsible and complies with Euro3 emission control standards.

MONSTER S4R

THE STREET FIGHTER THAT PERFORMS TO THE MAX
The S4R is the first-born of the ultra-performance Monster SR series, inheriting the award-winning 996 engine and lightweight trellis frame from its Superbike parentage to ensure an exhilarating combination of power and handling.

The L-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected Desmoquattro 996 pours out power and torque throughout the rev range. A broad linear power delivery and sure handling combine to let you accelerate out of corners in perfect control. Short, precision-mesh gearing gives lightning-fast acceleration: A close ratio six speed gearbox can thrust you quickly turn to turn, or if you’re looking for a smooth, flowing ride you can forget the gearbox and make the most of the tractable engine by just using the throttle. With 117 hp and a dry weight of 181 kg (399 lbs), every twist of the throttle means excitement and and sports riding thrills.

The suspension system features a fully adjustable, TiN-treated Showa fork up front, improving the response of the suspension to uneven road surfaces. The rear shock is also by Showa and is fully adjustable so it can be adapted to your own riding style and load conditions. The S4R is fitted with high performance Brembo brakes: twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 6 mm thick disk at the rear.

Considerable ground clearance lets you lean aggressively into the corners and make the most of the S4R’s road holding qualities. Moreover, variable cross-section aluminium handlebars and adjustable brake and clutch levers further improve the ergonomics of this thoroughly modern bike, created to enhance the thrills of sports riding. The S4R features carbon fibre details like the front mudguard and radiator covers.

MONSTER S4RS TESTASTRETTA

THE “MONSTER SUPERBIKE” WITH TRACK-PERFECT PERFORMANCE
The legendary Testastretta engine now powers the leading street fighter motorcycle. Designed with the most experienced riders in mind, who expect the best in terms of technology, performance and componentry, the Monster S4Rs sets a new standard in the category, benefiting from all the experience gained in the World Superbike Championship.

The L-twin Testastretta engine is a milestone on the historic journey of sports motorcycles. Testastretta technology allows a reduced angle between the intake and exhaust valves. The result is a clean, compact combustion chamber that is also highly efficient: the flat-crown pistons provide a perfectly smooth combustion environment and linear flame front. The special design of the heads, together with the cutting-edge electronic engine control system, guarantees optimal combustion throughout the rev range and makes for smooth, potent power delivery.

The Testastretta engine features a piston stroke of 63.5 mm and a bore of 100 mm: the short stroke limits average piston speed to allow increased RPMs and improve overall reliability. An exclusive oil pump feeding system is built into the deep sump crankcase to ensure an even oil flow rate during the most dramatic acceleration and braking, or extreme cornering.

The chassis and running gear on this bike are unparalleled. The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at both ends is complemented by 5 Y-shaped spoke rims that improve the rigidity/weight ratio compared to traditional wheels and enable a reduction of the unsprung weight for better handling. The 320 mm twin disc Brembo brakes on the front have radial-mounted calipers with four pistons and four pads. Radial-mounting guarantees a more rigid caliper-fork mount assembly, thus improving the efficiency of the brake system.

Several details – the silencer cover, exhaust heat plate, front mudguard and cam belt covers are produced in carbon fibre, contributing to the overall weight reduction and making this Monster look even more exclusive. Even a top performance bike such as this can be environmentally responsible, as the Monster S4Rs Testastretta

SPORTCLASSIC

CLASSICALLY INSPIRED, HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT BIKES
Welcome to a new Ducati family – The SportClassics – motorcycles that capture the essential beauty, timeless style and emotion of the Engineer Fabio Taglioni’s original Ducati sport bikes of the 1970s. While retaining the best of the past, they have been developed using the latest technology and engineering, creating a range of thoroughly modern motorcycles that live up to today’s standards of road-going performance.

To attain the timeless beauty of the bikes that were the inspiration for the SportClassics, the key design, style and technical features of the originals were studied and targeted for modern interpretation in the Paul Smart 1000, Sport 1000 and the soon to be released GT 1000: lightweight yet powerful new motorcycles that are easy to handle and fun to ride every day.

TIMELESS FEATURES AND ADVANCED PERFORMANCE
The Paul Smart and Sport are powered by the outstanding Desmo 1000 DS engine. The torquey air-cooled 90º L-Twin is the perfect match to power these sport bikes. The cylinders with their traditional cooling fins and classic “L” configuration are direct descendents of the original Taglioni design. Slim between the legs and exposed for all to see, the latest two-valve Desmo system, fuel-injection and computer controlled engine management ensure that the 1000 DS engine is powerful, dependable and thrilling to ride.

The SportClassic design takes advantage of the beauty of the signature Ducati tubular trellis frames. The renowned strength and rigidity of the ALS 450 tubing has been further improved through the use of complex triangulation.

For the first time in three decades, the beauty of spoke wheels will grace a Ducati road bike. Starting with an alloy hub, the new wheels use 36 chromed stainless steel dual diameter spokes laced to 17” alloy Excel rims – rims famous in racing circles for their lightweight performance and durability. Mounted to the rims are modern interpretations of classic sport tyres, replicating the original patterns, but with modern radial construction techniques and rubber compounds.

Mounted to the alloy hubs are dual 320 mm brake discs up front and a 245 mm disc in the rear, both using lightweight black Brembo floating calipers to provide extra stopping power. Performance is further enhanced with classic black, steel braided brake lines.

The rear suspension system on the bikes takes a unique approach, with a single remote reservoir shock mounted on the left side. A 60 mm elliptical tubing swingarm harmonizes nicely with the trellis frame. Exiting on the right-hand side of the bike are twin stacked exhaust silencers, inspired by the black racing systems of the first big twins.

The cockpit’s rev counter and speedometer gauges feature an analogue readout with white faces, and chromed trim. The rider’s view is completed with a polished aluminium top crown and accessories.

SPORTCLASSIC GT1000

IN THE GRAN TURISMO TRADITION
The essential beauty and style of the Ducati GT models of the 1970s – a bike to be ridden every day with a balance of two-up comfort and Ducati Desmo power. The GT1000 introduces many new features that reflect fondly on the past, while being interpreted in a thoroughly modern way.

Back in 1971 the GT was a bike to be ridden every day, it combined sport bike and touring features in a balanced and beautiful Italian package. With a dual seat and single headlamp, it was an essential motorcycle, much like today’s “naked” or “traditional” motorcycles. It was a commonsense motorcycle, but its beauty was uncommon. The L-Twin engine was left fully exposed to flaunt its elegant features. Dual chrome silencers swept rearward accenting the attractive lines of the bike. Everyday performance was never so well executed. Until now.

Although classically styled, the 2006 GT1000 is engineered to deliver modern Ducati road performance. With its comfortable two-up riding position and confident handling, it is perfect for the daily commute or a weekend trip to the mountains. Powering the GT is the 1000 DS engine, the most advanced, most powerful Ducati air-cooled engine ever.

The GT1000 will be available in the spring of 2006.

SPORTCLASSIC PAUL SMART 1000LE

A TRIBUTE TO PAUL SMART AND THE IMOLA 200 VICTORY
Englishman Paul Smart’s historic Imola 200 victory in 1972 on the 750 Imola Desmo marked the beginning of the modern Ducati racing era and the emergence of the big-bore twin, sport bike dynasty. The new Paul Smart Limited Edition is a tribute to Smart’s victory and the timeless styling of his silver racer.

The exclusive status of this limited edition, available only in a single-seat version, is confirmed by its highly advanced suspension components, a historic colour scheme and small production run of just 2000 examples worldwide. Each and every bike has an engraved centre fairing mount cap stating: “Ducati – Paul Smart 1000 – Limited Edition”.

The Limited Edition gives the guaranteed performance that you would expect from a modern sport bike, not least because of its first-class components. Up front it features an Öhlins 43 mm upside down fork with trademark gold finish. The compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load are adjustable to adapt the bike to different riding styles and road surfaces. The rear suspension is handled by a single shock, also by Öhlins, with 60 mm asymmetric rear swingarm. Like the front fork, the single shock is fully adjustable for compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load. To improve stability even more, a polished aluminium steering damper is fitted as standard.

SPORTCLASSIC SPORT1000

A CAFÉ RACER FOR A NEW GENERATION
In the 1970s, sport riders were modifying their street bikes with some of what they saw being used on the race track, like clip-on handlebars, rear set footpegs, and “fast” colours. This was done just as much for the “look”, as for increased performance. In the end, motorcycle haunts of the time were filled with individualism and non-conformity expressed in trend-setting styles and experimentation with performance enhancement. The Café Racer style was born.

The Ducati Sport1000 captures the bold style of the early bikes. Starting with the traditional monochromatic colour themes of yellow, red and black, each bike also has a contrasting racing stripe across the fuel tank and tailpiece. All three colours are complemented with a classic black frame. With a solo seat and clip-ons, the Sport looks low, lean and ready for a ride in the twisties. The clip-ons on the Sport have, however, been raised about 20 mm compared to the Paul Smart for a slightly more relaxed position.

The Sport1000’s suspension features a 43 mm upside-down fork by Marzocchi. Suspension by Marzocchi was also the choice on the original 750 Sport Ducati of 1971, and the brushed aluminium forks of the new Sport look as great now as they did back then. Rear suspension is handled by a Sachs single shock, which can be adjusted for pre-load, compression and rebound damping, in conjunction with an elliptical 60 mm asymmetrical swingarm.

The Sport1000 has inherited yet another outstanding feature from the original Ducati sport bikes: reduced overall weight. Tipping the scales at just 179 kg (395 lbs), you can feel how light it is whether you are going at top speed or simply parking. The limited weight is a distinct advantage of the Sport1000 when accelerating, cornering or braking. It's the Café Racer style of the Taglioni Sport 750 with modern Ducati performance.

SPORTTOURING

SPORTS PERFORMANCE AND LONG DISTANCE COMFORT
A perfect blend of sport bike handling and tour comfort: the Ducati Sporttouring is the ideal choice for long motorway hauls, winding mountain roads or inner city commuting, whether riding solo or with a passenger.

Both models in the 2006 range are powered by the 3 valves per cylinder, 992 cc twin-cylinder Desmo3 engine. Liquid-cooled with electronic fuel injection, this engine combines the excellent low-rev torque of two-valve engines, with the high-rev power of 4-valve engines. SUPERBIKE 749s

EXCELLENCE ON THE ROAD AND TRACK
The Ducati 749s has all of the technology that makes the Superbike family unique. The 748 cc Testastretta engine provides 116 hp at 10,500 rpm and torque of 8.4 kgm (60.8 lb-ft) at 8,500 rpm that can even be used at very low revs, resulting in excellent track performance and easy handling on the road. It is a safe and pleasurable ride in all conditions.

High engine revs are allowed by a special valve retainer collet system used to secure the steel intake and exhuast valves. The system is also used on the R versions as well as the World Superbike and MotoGP race engines.

The L-twin Testastretta engines are very compact, making the finished motorcycles incredibly narrow and agile, much like their racing cousins. They also offer excellent torque and remarkably vigorous power delivery compared to four cylinder engines. Ducati Superbikes have incredible acceleration and provide outstanding riding thrills.

The suspension is fully adjustable at both ends and features a TiN-treated upside down Showa fork at the front and a Showa rear shock. Thanks to a wide steering angle (28.5°), the steering damper, adjustable headstock rake (from 23.5° to 24.5°) and foot rests that can be set at any of 5 different positions, the Ducati 749s can be adapted to suit individual riding styles. In addition, on the single-seat version, the seat-tank assembly is adjustable longitudinally by 20 mm, thus giving the rider the opportunity to personalise his or her riding position on the bike for track use.

SUPERBIKE 749R

A SPORTS BIKE WITHOUT COMPROMISE
The 749R, designed to race in the World Supersport Championship, is an outstanding racing machine. It features the most powerful mid-size Testastretta engine produced by Ducati together with a state-of-the-art chassis set up, both developed specifically for top track performance.

The 749R is driven by a mighty twin-cylinder Testastretta engine created especially for racing. The 121 hp at 10,500 rpm has been achieved through full race tuning, and shortening the piston stroke while increasing the bore to 94 mm, up from the 90 mm of the 749 and 749s, thus enabling the engine to run at higher rpm. The slipper clutch is also racing derived and prevents the rear wheel from locking during track style downshifting and heavy engine deceleration.

This Testastretta twin-cylinder engine has been created using the best materials: titanium valves, valve retaining collets and connecting rods, magnesium head covers and carbon fibre belt covers that feature a ventilation system to enhance belt cooling. The feather-weight crankshaft and high resistance aluminium alloy pistons complete the array of top notch components.

One of the unique features of this model is the rear suspension linkage, with flat rising rate as used on competition Ducatis, that is suited to extreme track use and a single-seat set up. The lower rising rate produces linear performance throughout the stroke with less rigidity at high ranges, typical of high-speed cornering experienced on the track. The suspension works in partnership with a fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock absorber, with a shorter stroke than in the standard version (down from 71 to 56 mm) and with a heavier spring, designed especially for this motorcycle and its unique rear suspension.

This model is exclusively available as a single-seater and is finished off with a numbered silver plate on the top yoke.

SUPERBIKE 999

A MODEL OF PERFORMANCE AND STYLE
The press has called the Ducati 999 the best-ever twin cylinder engine (MotorCycle News, the leading European motorcycle magazine). A peek under the fairing shows just how advanced this motorcycle is and the design focuses on rider ergonomics, making maintenance simpler by reducing overall complexity and, above all, offering top-notch performance.

The L-twin Testastretta engines are very compact, making the finished motorcycles incredibly narrow and agile, much like their racing cousins. They also offer excellent torque and remarkably vigorous power delivery compared to four-cylinder engines. Ducati Superbikes have incredible acceleration and provide outstanding riding thrills.

All the Ducati Superbikes are equipped with L-twin “Testastretta” engines. Testastretta cylinder head technology allows a unique layout of the cam-timing system that creates a reduced angle between the valves. The result is a clean, compact combustion chamber that is also highly efficient, with flat-crown pistons that provide a perfectly smooth, linear flame front. The special design of the heads, together with the cutting-edge electronic engine control system, guarantees optimal combustion throughout the rev range and makes for smooth, effective riding at all times.

The standard version of the 999 pumps out 140 hp at 9,750 rpm and 11.1 kgm (80.3 lb-ft) of torque at 8,000 rpm with a smoothness that makes riding sheer pleasure. The Testastretta engine in the 999 has a piston stroke of 63.5 mm and a bore of 100 mm; the reduced stroke limits maximum piston speed allowing increased rpm's and improved overall reliability. An exclusive oil pump feeding system, built into the Corse low sump crankcase ensures maximum oil flow even during extreme cornering and hard acceleration out of corners.

Suspension on the 999 is fully adjustable: the TiN-treated 43 mm upside-down Showa fork works together with the Showa rear shock absorber, pivoting on the aluminium alloy rear swingarm – derived from the 999 Factory, winner of the 2004 World Superbike Championship.

SUPERBIKE 999S

TOP NOTCH PERFORMANCE – UNBEATABLE COMPONENTS
The 999s is at the top of its class (with the exception of the pure racing versions) thanks to its engine performance and outstanding components. It features an especially powerful Testastretta engine that delivers a track-hungry 143 hp and a Corse-derived low sump crankcase for consistent oil feed even during full race conditions. The extra power is delivered in a smooth linear fashion to boost performance whether you are riding around hairpin bends halfway up a mountain or powering around a race track.

Ducati’s considerable experience on circuits around the world can also be seen in the suspension: the front end features a TiN-treated 43 mm upside-down Öhlins fork with Teflon guides and top-out spring. The fork uses special bottoms for the radial-mounted, 4-pad front brake calipers, ensuring maximum braking performance.

At the rear end the Öhlins shock absorber, together with the box-sectioned rear swingarm, maximises grip and the control system with one-way valve acts on the rebound damping, allowing complete separation between compression and rebound functions.

The triple-bridge front brake calipers are radial-mounted with four pistons and four pads, and are used in combination with 4.5 mm thick discs, wide-mounted in order to ensure adequate cooling. The radial mount makes the caliper-fork mount assembly more rigid, thus improving braking system efficiency. The box-sectioned aluminium alloy rear swingarm (the same as the one on the 999R Factory race bike) gives the bike a more marked racing look and increases on-road grip thanks to its excellent rigidity/weight ratio.

The 5-position adjustable foot rests are fitted as standard, to further adapt the bike to rider preferences, as well as the adjustable Öhlins steering damper with special cam, which enables easier repositioning upon altering the headstock rake angle (from 23.5° to 24.5°).

The motorcycle comes with a race kit that includes a complete Termignoni exhaust, an electronic control unit with race mapping and a carbon fibre silencer cover.

SUPERBIKE 999R

THE BEST V-TWIN ON THE PLANET
