Batteries for your bevel drive twins
and singles
Maintenance Free Dry Cell Technology [AGM]
|
Sure, you can go to
Kmart to get a battery, or any motorcycle dealership......
But these are different, they are the new technology maintenance
free dry cell battery. I have provided specs at the bottom of the
page.
I have narrowed it
down to these top shelf batteries for our bevel drives. I have run
the SVR 20 in my NCR Replica the
12V14-B in my Yamadog FJ1200 since 2001. Not the
slightest hint of a problem in either one. Please see the FAQs below as
well as warranty information etc. These are very good
batteries and should last the life of your bike. Really.
The WestCo 12V14-B has the familiar & standard
terminals. The SV series batteries all carry an extremely
heavy duty terminal, able to withstand much more vibration which
is a major enemy to the life of your battery and it is only a few
more bucks. For non electric
start bevel drive twins, you have 2 choices below. For your
electric start models, I present you with the top of the line
SVR20 - a workhorse which is much smaller physically than your
standard B68-12V 36AH stocker but will outperform in in every
way. For the 6V crowd, I have also found you a dry cell
replacement.... Don't be tempted to buy a cheap battery, you
will have to replace it often, these you won't. Lastly,
there is a battery charger for these batteries, it can be switched
between 6V and 12V, check it our on the bottom of this page.
If you own a 750F1 or a modern Ducati twin, please see the new
WestCo batteries below, we now offer them. These
batteries can only be shipped to USA customers, sorry.
Shipping
takes 3-5 days in most cases, and batteries are shipped separately
to any other parts ordered.

The
Accumate battery charger is completely automatic, safe and simple
to use. The advanced 3-stage charging program features both
constant current and constant voltage charging to completely and
correctly charge a variety of battery types. The Accumate will
also properly maintain a battery at it's correct voltage during
storage and long periods of non-use without overcharging and
gassing. The Accumate is reverse polarity protected and spark
proof, and features five separate LED lights, three of which
indicate a battery's charge status. For charging and for
maintaining batteries up to 55ah. Comes with ring and clip style
cables with a quick disconnect.
Applications
Designed for charging and maintaining motorcycle, jetski, ATV. and
smaller battery types from 4ah. Also designed to maintain
automotive batteries, including older antique vehicles that may
have 6 volt electrical systems.

FAQs
What is an AGM battery?
AGM is an abbreviation for absorbed glass mat. In this design, the acid is
completely absorbed into glass mat separators which are sandwiched between the
lead plates. It's a totally sealed and maintenance free design. There are no
discharge tubes or fillers caps, which eliminates the need to maintain water
levels and offers no concern about acid leaks on valuable parts and accessories.
Why is an AGM battery better than a conventional motorcycle battery?
AGM batteries offer the following advantages over conventional batteries:
- Sealed maintenance free design means you never have to worry about checking
water levels.
- AGM technology will not leak or corrode on paint and chrome.
- They have less internal resistance which offers more CCA amperage than wet
batteries.
- By nature AGM batteries are more heat and vibration resistant than
conventional batteries, both which contribute to the large majority of failures
in motorcycle applications.
- Slower self discharge rate (longer shelf life) means battery can sit for
extended periods of time without constant monitoring. A wet battery discharges
15% a month, where our AGM batteries discharge only 2-3% a month.
Should longer service life be expected from an AGM battery?
Yes.
- The main reason wet batteries fail is due to the fact that water levels are
not properly monitored coupled with the fact that they are not very vibration
resistant. AGM batteries do not have to be constantly maintained and are much
more resistant to both heat and vibration, which is why they offer longer
service life.
Do I need to charge my battery when I get it?
No.
-Our batteries are ready to go out of the box if installed within the first
thirty days.
Maintenance
and Storage
Our sealed GEL and AGM batteries require very little maintenance during storage.
Their advanced technology eliminates the need to monitor and maintain water
levels. The sealed design means much longer periods between charges when
the battery is inactive. A fully automatic charger such as the Accumate
(LS6/1.2) battery charger or LS2606, is adequate to charge and maintain our
sealed batteries. These types of chargers can be applied occasionally or can be
left on indefinitely.
