My restoration project is at the point of removing the rear fork (swingarm) on my 1970 350 Scrambler for cleaning & repainting. How does it come apart? Do I loosen the clamp-bolts on each side, and pry out the decorative caps on each side, or what? Is there a pivot shaft that will need to be pounded out, or pins, or pegs, or what? _________________ Currently rebuilding 1970 350cc Scrambler |

The swingarm was successfully removed by pounding the pivot shaft out with a brass bar and heavy hammer. The brass bar is just the right size to match the pivot shaft outside diameter, and yet slide into the I.D. hole of the frame and the I.D. of the bushings in the swingarm. Some penetrating oil on the pivot shaft, and 25 good swings of the sledge popped it out. _________________ Currently rebuilding 1970 350cc Scrambler |
