The project bike above I am offering for sale for $2500 OBO.  Included in the deal is a 1-time purchase coupon for anything in my store at a 15% discount [multiple items OK].

I have a clear title and have put a "Non-Op" registration with the California DMV on the bike.  This bike will be sold with a legal "bill of sale" and signed pink slip currently in my name.  The new owner can simply go to the DMV for your area and do a simple transfer of title and pay the normal required transfer fees to get it registered for road use.  I have the  California plate for your new stickers once you transfer title etc.

There will be no outstanding or hidden fees involved when you go to the DMV - just simple transfer fees [$56 in California] as all documents are current and in order [how rare is that?].

This bike is to be sold "AS-IS, WHERE IS" with absolutely NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.  I have absolutely NO IDEA if the bike runs, or can easily be made to run - I will not try to get it running for you, I don't have time to deal with this bike which is why I am selling it.

What I know about this bike:

This is a 1978 model 860GTS with 5/77 as a build date stamped on the headstock, engine #85430X & frame #85430X.  The bike was last registered in 1992 but sat in a garage in Southern California from 1989 until 2003 when I picked it up.  It has been inside my shop since.  It shows 8,008 miles on the odometer.  This looks to be an 860GTS as the rear frame loop is almost flat, unlike an 860GT and the instruments and other items show it to be.  Marzocchi forks and Marzocchi shocks.  But with only 1 brake rotor/caliper up front, this seems to be a weird anomaly.  The previous owner may have removed one disk & caliper to lighten it up a bit, or maybe it is a regular 860 GT with GTS items added - who knows.

In 1978 only 250 860GTS bikes were produced with only 30 coming into the USA.

You can plainly see there is no headlight or headlight ring.  The wires going into the headlight bucket are not connected and are just sitting there as you can see.  There are CONTI mufflers and a 900SS kick start lever installed on the bike.  The tach has broken glass and the side covers don't appear to be correct for a GTS as they are drilled for an 860 emblem, which 1 is missing.  The chrome rims shined up pretty nicely and if you look at the photo under the seat you will see that the wiring is in excellent shape and is very clean, you can easily read the little number rings around the individual wires.  It is as though the bike sat outside in the sun as things on the outside have some corrosion but everything hidden or under something is pretty clean.

The bike is offered as a project bike in need of a go-through or complete restoration.

The bike is available for pickup directly from me.   If shipping is required, you can arrange for your shipper to come to me and pick it up.  You can also use my shipper to get the bike TO YOUR DOOR for $537 above the price of the bike.  You will be responsible for all shipping costs incurred either way.

This bike is located in Pleasant Hill, California postal code 94523.  If you look at a map, it is about 5 mins from where highway 24 and 680 converge in Walnut Creek, which is 35 mins east of San Francisco.

If this bike interests you, please contact Steve Allen at 925.586.6420 to set an appointment to view the bike or to discuss terms.
