We have dropped the asking price to $55K, we were unsure where to put the initial asking price as this is such a low volume production bike.  We figure it should be somewhere between a Green frame and a regular Sport.....  If you are interested in this bike please give us a call and lets talk.

Since posting this bike here at Bevelheaven I have worked on it a bit.  It now has correct dipstick, the JOD is installed, and I changed the rotor bolts.  Rebuilt and adjusted the throttle.  The speed-o was switched at the repair shop (they say inadvertently) and I still hope they track down the correct one).  I had to prove it to them with the photos I have of the bike when I bought it from John Goldman. The gauges on the bike work perfectly.  Took the bike on ride to insure everything's still smooth, and then drained the gas from the tank as a precaution. All engine work done by Scott Jenkins @ Desmoto in San Francisco.  Lastly, we installed new black swing arm caps & swapped the fuel taps side to side so they are now mounted in the correct orientation.

Sorry, the color in this shot is weird.... We took this and the following pix with a small point & shoot...

1972 Ducati "Wideframe" Sport aka "Z Stripe"
Frame # 750973  Engine # 751283

NOTE: This Sport is being offered for sale by the current owner.  Bevel Heaven owner Steve Allen will be handling all aspects of this transaction on behalf of the gentleman who owns it.  Steve has known the owner for about a decade. This bike is in very good condition but is not perfect, as this bike has been ridden off & on throughout it's life, not just sitting on display...  It is not a trailer queen.  This fine example of a 750 Sport has a clean California title and current CA registration.  Below is the text that the owner has provided pertaining to this bike.

*******************************************

The 1972 sport is the rarest of the round case sports - likely less than 40 "wide frame" sports were produced.

This example was purchased in Germany approximately ten years ago where it accumulated 7,700 miles before being imported to the U.S.A.  The bike starts easily and runs well.  Leaks no oil at all.  Transmission shifts smoothly into all gears.  The carburetors are the correct PHF32 AS/AD Dell'Ortos with alloy manifolds.  Contis are original without blemishes. [edit: there is a small ding on 1 of the contis]

The bike was repainted, the color matched to a NOS stock fiberglass gas tank to get just the right shade of ochre. Tank has been properly lined.  Also included is a second original gas tank which has been repainted and lined shown above.  This tank shows minor evidence of vapor penetration at the tank top and will need to be re-lined.

Original factory fairing is included as shown, with all the correct fittings etc.  Side covers are the correct ones with perimeter fasteners.  Small battery tray is correct.  315mm kick start shaft. Correct fiberglass fenders, rear unique to 72 sport.

A regulator failure during a ride last year required replacement with the correct regulator but damaged the electronic tach which has been rebuilt along with the speedometer.

Tommaselli Daytona 2C throttle and Aprilia switches are correct and in perfect working order.  Tommaselli clipons are on the bike.  Lockheed front disk works perfectly, no leaky seals.  Marzocchi leading axle front fork and rear shocks are original and correct. Borrani rims & Metzelers, has the rare 4.00 rear tire.  Although the correct chrome headlight bucket, idiot lights and switch are there, an incorrect Aprilia lens is installed as shown in the detail, a correct JOD Duplo headlight lens has been found and will be included with the sale of this bike.  [edit: the JOD Duplo has been installed as noted above]

Rear fender (the correct wide frame original) has a small crack as shown in detail above - minor scratches here and there but overall, bike is stunning and original.
